North Carolina Cosmetology License Requirements
Modern Salon Learning is in the
process of being approved in the state of North Carolina
Credit Hours Required:
The continuing education
requirement for all licensees is eight (8) hours per year. Cosmetologists may
complete the 24 hours of continuing education any time within the
cosmetologist's three-year licensing cycle. No licensee shall receive credit for
course duplication completed during the licensing cycle.
- Cosmetologists will be permitted to earn up to 12
hours of internet CE hours per licensing cycle.
- Manicurists and estheticians will be permitted to earn
up to 4 hours per licensing cycle.
CE Exemption:
All Cosmetologists with 20 years of consecutive licensure
are exempt from the continuing education requirement
Individuals age 60 or older with 10 years of work
experience are exempted from CE.
Renewal Period:
The renewal period is July 1st
to September 30th of each renewal year.
Late renewals or expired
licenses are subject to additional late fees and CE hours for each year expired.
