Cosmetology License Requirements

In addition to providing top quality cosmetology education for stylists and salon owners, cosmetologists can take the courses to fulfill their continuing education requirements for cosmetology license renewal.

Each course is divided into three lessons for a total of 50-60 minutes of education (equal to one hour of CE credit).

The following is a list of states that require continuing education for cosmetology license renewal and allow on-line cosmetology education to satisfy the cosmetology license requirements. After each state, there is a listing of the hours required and the approval status of Modern Salon Learning courses. Click on state for more information in each state. Important Note: If a Modern Salon Learning course is not approved by the cosmetology or license and regulation board in your state, it will not be eligible for continuing education credit towards your license renewal.

• The licensee must complete a minimum of four (4) hours of mandatory courses approved by Nebraska Department of Regulation and Licensure and four (4) hours on additional topics.
• The licensee may use any of the Modern Salon Learning Courses for independent study.
• A maximum of two (2) hours of independent study is allowed for cosmetology license renewal.

North Carolina
