Other people are always eager to tell us here in Chicago that we have crappy weather, but we really don’t complain much—until we get a week like this. Single digits are not appropriate for the high temperature of the day! Luckily there’s lots to
occupy us inside. My strategy for this week is to stay indoors and stay online. So much to do! Update your myspace/facebook page, shop websites for winter coat sales (try
landsend.com,
burlingtoncoatfactory.com or
thenorthface.com), check out the hottest celebrity hair at
instyle.com and, of course, take some
salon online training. January is the perfect month to address your
salon continuing education schedule for a lot of reasons.
First, this most likely isn’t your busiest month. Although I think it’s less seasonal than it used to be, the salon business is still a bit slow right now. People tend to be paying off their holiday credit card bills, not seeking to resume spending just yet. Their hair was probably freshly cut and colored recently enough that they can deal.
Second, you get it over with. This may not be the best reason, especially if you enjoy taking classes, but checking something off your list early in the year is still satisfying. Third is what I’ve already mentioned. It’s so cozy to stay inside in your sweats with your quilt and your computer and smarten up with some good
salon online training. Me? I’m going online to check out some cheap airfares to the Caribbean!
