rs, and you’ll please the guys. But how do you bring them back to your chair?
A mom recently told me that her teenage son has been going to the same hairstylist for years because the hairstylist connected with him at his very first visit. First, the stylist asked how the kid wanted his hair cut. When the boy looked over at his mother for a suggestion, the stylist repeated, “How do you want your hair? You’re the one who’s going to be wearing it.” Afterward, the hairstylist handed him his business card; on the back, he wrote the different clipper blade numbers for the top, sides and back of the cut he just gave him. The stylist pointed out his phone number and invited the boy to call him directly when his hair grew out and he needed it cut again.
Today’s kids have cell phones and can make appointments online. As young teens and even earlier, they enjoy a little independence. Respecting a boy enough to advise him to make his own decision about his hair, and then putting the next appointment into his hands, makes him feel like a player in this world rather than like a child. As you take continuing education classes in
men’s hair cutting, keep in mind the marketing that will ensure you a loyal, growing male clientele.
